Mirahawatta is a beautiful rural village situated in Budulla District in Uva Province. It lies between Bandarawala and Welimada. Mirahawatta is 13 kilometers from Bandarawela town. The entrance place to the village is called Udawela junction in Bandarawela and Welimada main road. Mirahawatta is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges and full of natural scenic beauty. The tributary of Uma Oya encircles the village. There are beautiful vegetable plantations, tea plantations and rice fields in this village. Many natural water ways supply water for the villagers. However rice cultivation depends on the tributary of Uma Oya. Basically Mirahawatta village depends on agriculture. Majority of the land of the village is covered with rice fields. Apart from that, some potatoes and carrot cultivations can be seen in the village. Few villagers engage in government employments, while some are doing green house farming. Rural hospital, rural bank and so many shops are there in the village. One of the most fantastic botanical gardens called Harbarian is situated in Mirahawatta where so many rare flowers are grown. |
