Our Village
Nawa Medagama is a newly established village under Mahaweli Development Project. As it is newly built and surround by some other village it was “ Nawa- New” “ Meda- Central” “Gama- Village” (Nawa medagama). Thought was so named very recently the other surrounded villages have a historic background, for example a bordering village Henanigala divided by Indigenous people was found in as far back as 1965. Even ancient ruins of king Dutugamunu era can be found in the vicinity. These villagan came from has a multi religions, multi cultural background as they were resettled reign of the country. Their main source of living is paddy cultivation and some engage is fishing industry in Inland water resources.
 The village surround mea dime are kelegama,Wewgama, Diawiddagama, Pahalagama, Medagama, Kudagama, Wewmedagama, Henanigala South and Henanigala North. In village there is over 200 families. The Maduruoya National Park on in eastern boundary of the village.

An independence anniversary |

An independence anniversary was held on 4th of February 2011 at Nawa medagama Sri Siduhath Buddhist Centre in Dehiaththakandiya. It is reported there were many villagers and a few guest on the occasion. Created by Samudra Senani

Due to heavy rains in Dehiaththakandiya area. Those days a lot of people and civilians have affected by floods. And also their day to day activities and their living conditions due to these weather condition. So that most of their houses, paddy fields and their crops were damaged due to heavy rains and floods. |

It’s a pleasure to have been informed that our school has been included in programme of e-village. We are grateful to the President his Excellency Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha, the Minister of Education, The Provincial Minister of Education Mr.Wimalaweerwa Dissanayake and to all the officers of Ministry of Education in making this task done.
The contribution of external community is very essential in identifying human and physical resources of our area, to use them in development. In this task, we are well aware of the greater contribution that could be granted through programme of e-village.
We take this as a good opportunity to have contribute ourselves to the President’s Vision – Towards the Wonder of Asia, if we are enable to step forward through a better Physical, Human and Cultural society by brightening up the abilities and skills of not only our students and teachers but also of the dwellers.
Therefore, let’s dedicate ourselves to improve this programme of e-village day by day. I wish, may all of us get the energy and courage to make this a success. |
